Youth Suicide Risk Assessment, Prevention and Intervention

This session explores the current research on the rising rates of youth suicide in the United States and the risk factors associated with suicidal behavior in youth, particularly children exposed to trauma, in foster care, receiving mental health treatment, or who identify as LGBTQ. YLS and Court Testimony

November 4, 2020 at 1:00pm-4:00pm

This 3 hour training will walk participants through the risk/needs assessment tool, Youth Level of Service (YLS) 2.0, utilized by all 67 probation departments in the Commonwealth. During the review of the YLS, participants will explore all domains and the definitions of each item will be reviewed to understand how a Probation Officer selects each item. After the review of the YLS, participants will focus on how to structure Court Testimony regarding youth in out of home placement or a community-based program. The Court Testimony will focus on presentation of the YLS and treatment goals for the youth served. Participants will have to opportunity to discuss issues and ask questions around the YLS and the presentation of Court Testimony. Payment: PCCYFS will invoice your agency after the training.

CEUs: CEUs for social workers, counselors, therapists available upon request with a $10 processing fee. PCCYFS is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors to offer continuing education for social workers, marriage and family therapists and professional counselors. PCCYFS maintains responsibility for the program(s).

Webinar Policy: If multiple people plan to attend via one computer, register all individuals at webinars@pccyfs.org. Unregistered individuals will not be able to obtain CEUs or certificates of attendance.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations will be accepted up to two business days prior to the scheduled course. Non-attending registrants will incur for their agency the same fee as if they had attended. All cancellations/substitutions must be sent to webinars@pccyfs.org. If a registrant must cancel within the 48 hour timeframe due to an emergency, he/she will be able to roll over the registration fee for a future webinar. No-shows on the day of the training will not be able to roll over.
