Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center Annual Powwow
Get ready for the Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center (COTRAIC) 42nd Annual Powwow! A powwow is a gathering of various tribal members who share in singing, dancing and renewing friendships. It expresses and sustains American Indian heritage by observing old traditions.
Each day of COTRAIC’s powwow will begin with an exciting grand entry of all dancers in their spectacular and colorful regalia. Throughout the day, visitors will enjoy watching and taking part in judging the various categories of competitive dance. Those inspired by the beat of the drum can join in with a variety of social dances, such as the Snake or Round dance.
The powwow will be held on Saturday, September 25, and Sunday, September 26, at 120 Charles Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15238, from noon to 7 p.m., rain or shine!
This event will feature competitive Native American dancers; Native American food, arts and crafts; and Native American singing, drumming and dancing.
