Single Father Adopts 5 Siblings Under the Age of 5

On October 17, single father Lamont Thomas of Buffalo, New York, adopted five siblings under the age of five—Zendaya, 5; Jamel, 4; Nakia, 3; Major, 2; and Michaela, 1—according to People Magazine.

“I wanted to be the difference, I wanted to make a difference by being a difference for these youth,” Thomas said.

Thomas has fostered over 30 youth since 2000 and is now father to 10 adopted children, as well as two biological children.

Siblings in foster care often get placed in separate homes, which may further their trauma by bringing on emotional pain, anxiety, guilt and grief. In many cases, siblings also lose contact with one another when separated. Thomas fought to ensure this sibling group would have a different story.

“They bring new energy to me,” he told Good Morning America. “They’re lovable kids, very affectionate. They deserve to be raised as siblings, and that was my fight.”

As an organization dedicated to strengthening families, we admire Lamont for giving these siblings a forever home!
