ASCI’s New Driver Simulation Program for All Youth

Here at A Second Chance, Inc., we take pride in our young drivers and youth who desire to get their driver’s licenses and ensure the safety of those around them. We recognize our need to go above and beyond in preparing them for the road ahead. Therefore, we are excited to announce our new Driver Simulation Program, which will reward young drivers with driving experience while making safety a priority. The goal of this program is to aid youth in obtaining their Pennsylvania driver’s licenses.

Who Is Eligible?

All youth of eligible driving age can be a part of this program.

What Is a Driving Simulator?

Driving simulators replicate actual driving experiences through all types of scenarios that include vehicle handling, scanning and hazard detection, parallel parking, and hydroplaning. Other situations include distracted and impaired driving. It will simulate driving during different times of day and during various weather conditions, for example, giving tips like better scanning through visual and verbal instruction.

What Will They Learn?

The Driving Simulator program is a simulation-based driver safety training program that teaches drivers the critical skills essential to safe driving. Our FACE/HIU teams will provide lessons of extensive instruction and practice including how to combat distracted driving, pre and post-assessment drives, and real-time violation tracking. The state-of-the-art reporting system can track each student’s performance and substantiate the provided certificate of course completion.

Extra Program Bonus!

If youth are in care, we can also provide paid driving school over-the-road driving experience through our partnership with the 412 Youth Zone. As an additional incentive for our in-care youth, we have formed a collaboration with Opportunity Passport. Youth who participate in the Opportunity Passport program can earn and save money toward the purchase of a car.

How Does Youth Sign Up or Get More Information?

If you have interested youth in your home or on your caseload who are of driving age and can benefit from this program, please send an email to Gary Alred or call 412-509-4055.

We are excited about this amazing opportunity for our youth, and we hope you will help us spread the word about this great benefit.
