Stand Against Racism with YWCA Greater Pittsburgh

It seems like every day we are reminded that racism is a public health crisis.

Last week, 20-year-old Daunte Wright was shot and killed by a Minnesota police officer only 10 miles from where the trial of Derek Chauvin is being held get justice for the death of George Floyd. Daunte Wright was unjustly taken from a loving family, including his 2-year-old son.

When will it end?

It is undeniable: in this country, it is dangerous to be Black. We cannot stand by and let Black and brown lives continue to be taken from their loved ones and communities, so we ask you to stand with us and the YWCA Greater Pittsburgh to take action.

How to Take Action
  1. Join YWCA Greater Pittsburgh on Wednesday, April 21st at 12pm on Zoom for our next Action Conversation on Race, where Barbara Johnson will be speaking with a panel of local experts on Racism as a Public Health Crisis.
  2. Participate in and develop your own Racial Justice Education by engaging with the archived resources from our 21-Day Racial Equity and Social Justice Challenge. Build a foundation and framework for a lifetime of learning and unlearning.
  3. Join YWCA Greater Pittsburgh and speak out for justice and accountability now! Demand safety, accountability, and justice for all.
  4. Create conversations with your neighbors, friends, and family members, and strategize ways that you can mobilize your community to take action against police abuse
  5. Join the national YWCA USA 2021 Stand Against Racism movement and examine the ways in which you can use your influence to affect real change in your communities. Support local grassroots organizations that are working to challenge structural racism.
