Supporting Families During the Shutdown: Food Assistance Resources Available

Dear Valued Staff and Families,

As you may be aware, SNAP benefits and other public assistance programs are expected to end as a result of the federal government shutdown and the failure to pass a state budget.

As the CEO of ASCI, I want to assure you—along with our Board, Executive Leadership Team, and dedicated staff—that we are committed to ensuring no child or family goes hungry.

To that end, below you will find resources and directions that can be accessed by phone, text, or the internet to assist with your emergency food needs:

Food Assistance Resources

  • Call, Text, or Chat with 211

211 will connect you directly to charitable food resources to help centralize all emergency food calls.

Giant Eagle is also promoting the use of 211 for food access assistance.

Important Notes

  • Eligibility criteria will vary depending on the resource. Please confirm requirements before visiting any location.
  • If you currently receive SNAP benefits or your children attend schools offering free or reduced lunch, please mention this when seeking assistance—it may help expedite support.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to support our families during this uncertain time. Please share this information with anyone who may be in need.

In partnership and care,

Dr. Sharon L. McDaniel
