Adorable Father-Son Duo Go Viral
Marcus Hill and his son MJ wake up early to cook breakfast for MJ’s mother to eat in bed! While cooking, the adorable father-son duo always takes a few minutes to dance together. Marcus said he started filming their routine to show his wife.
“At first she had no idea what was going on in the kitchen. She just heard pots and pans, so I recorded it to actually show her,” Marcus told TODAY.
They started their routine on Valentine’s Day, when Marcus decided he wanted to do something special for his wife. He had his son help, and MJ wanted to continue the tradition.
“When he saw mommy was happy he wanted to keep doing it to keep her happy,” Marcus said. “I was like, we will pick one thing on the weekend. He loves making mommy happy!”
Originally, the videos were shared with friends and on Marcus’s Instagram story. Marcus said family and friends encouraged him to start posting the videos on his Instagram profile page. Since posting them on Instagram, they have gone viral, making thousands of people happy!
“I grew up in a single parent home. I am also a school teacher. I know a lot of kids who don’t have parents in the household,” Marcus told TODAY. “When I started posting the videos, I’d get comments from friends and people I don’t even know saying, ‘This is inspirational. I didn’t have a dad growing up.’ “
“I wasn’t trying to be an inspiration, but it’s like thank you! It became one of those things. This is something positive. Let me keep posting. When it started going viral, that wasn’t my intent, but I decided let’s keep going,” Marcus said
While the adorable videos have been an inspiration to most, Marcus has gotten some backlash saying what him and MJ are doing isn’t masculine.
To respond to the critics, Marcus said, “The thing is, people will say something regardless. It doesn’t matter what you do. Somebody will always have something negative to say. You have to have thick skin.”
MJ said he enjoys spending time with his dad, no matter the occasion. “I have fun with my dad. We do a lot of things. We play football. We cook. I grill with my dad too!” MJ said.
Marcus and MJ continue to teach the world two valuable lessons: Masculinity comes in different forms and love is shown through many actions. Thank you to this precious father-son duo for spreading positivity to us all!
