‘Sesame Street’ and CNN to Address Racism in Town Hall for Kids and Families

As the black community has to endure yet another African-American dying at the hands of police, CNN and “Sesame Street” are channeling their second town hall meeting to address the issue of racism with children and families.

The 60-minute special called “Coming Together: Standing Up to Racism. A CNN/Sesame Street Town Hall for Kids and Families” will air on Saturday, June 6, at 10 a.m. ET. The show will teach children about racism, protests, embracing diversity, and how to be empathetic and understanding to all races.

Big Bird will join Van Jones and Erica Hill to moderate the event. They will also feature other “Sesame Street” characters — including Elmo, Abby Cadabby and Rosita — and experts will be available to answer questions submitted by families.

The town hall will stream live on the CNN homepage and CNN’s apps. It will also air on the CNN channel, CNN International, CNN en Español and CNNgo.

Join the discussion by standing up to racism! Parents can submit their questions here.

At ASCI, we stand in solidarity with black youth, families and communities across the nation protesting police brutality and demanding justice.
