Esmirna Matos is graduated magna cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico, where she earned her master’s degree in education with a specialization in research and program evaluation.

Matos has 20 years of experience in education. Her time as a teacher, program director and special assistant to the undersecretary of education at the Puerto Rico Department of Education gave her the opportunity to teach, write curriculum, design and evaluate educational programs, write grants and develop education policies. Her working experience and academic knowledge give her an extensive background in program design, development and evaluation. 

Matos’ responsibilities at A Second Chance, Inc., include: quality improvement, internal data reviews, program evaluation, research, outcomes reviews and curriculum writing. She has translated and adapted the SARKS curriculum for Spanish speakers, as well as documentation needed for our caregivers training certification. 

Matos is currently pursuing a certification in programming and coding to enrich her data collection and analytics skills.
