Charay Young
Director, Point of Contact
Pittsburgh Corporate Office: (412) 342-0681
Charay Young oversees the Child and Family Services Point of Contact (POC) program. She believes this department is the heart of the organization and every service we provide has to be aligned with providing the best supports for our families and staff to thrive.
Charay started her professional journey with ASCI in June of 2017, serving as a frontline caseworker for POC. In the summer of 2019, she was promoted to Child and Family Services supervisor and transitioned to servicing both the POC and respite departments less than a year later.
Charay graduated from Edinboro University in 2017 where she received a bachelor’s degree in business administration. During her four years of undergrad, she participated in roles (e.g., vice president and president of the Black Student Union, a student senator and a resident assistant) that advocated for groups that were often overlooked. As a student, Charay mentored youth in the inner city of Erie and worked for Voices Against Violence as a summer-camp counselor in the Pittsburgh Southside neighborhood.
From a very young age, Charay has always been connected with caring for youth and is driven to lead no matter what role she assumes. She is passionate about servicing the kinship triad and believes that every decision made can affect the trajectory of a child/family’s life, and so we must not operate with a business-as-usual mindset.
