Supplemental Education Services (SES)
The origin of the Supplemental Educational Services comes from the No Child Left Behind Education Reform Law (NCLB) signed into effect by George W. Bush in January 2001 as educational reform.
The NCLB reform law requires that states identify public schools in which achievement gaps persist and deliver extra help to those students attending these identified schools. Under this law an identified school is immediately qualified for emergency help including everything from federal funding to technical assistance. Children attending that school also qualify for private supplemental educational services such as tutoring. As a result parents have a choice in their children’s education.
