Legislative Update


The following information provides a summary of state/national legislation and programs pertaining to the child welfare, mental health, and educational arenas. The purpose of these monthly reports is to keep the management staff of ASCI informed of the effects/implications of local, state, and national legislation, as well as suggest the implementation of new program initiatives.

The ultimate goal is to utilize this information to improve the service delivery to our clients, main funder (Allegheny County Children, Youth, and Families), and the community. Various resources (child welfare publications, legislative websites, news magazines/shows, and newspapers) are used to obtain this information.

CASE LAW UPDATE

 

The following information provides a summary of recent cases decided nationwide that affect children and families.  The primary purpose of this periodic case law publication is to keep the staff of A Second Chance, Inc. informed of the latest developments in case law with an emphasis on Pennsylvania cases that affect children and families in the areas of kinship caregiver custody disputes, termination of parental rights, kinship adoptions,  parenting, visitation rights and liability in the child welfare profession.
