Educational Youth Opportunities (EYO)
EYO is a program designed to increase educational, social, cultural, and recreational activities for youth. It is also designed to develop and enhance leadership abilities among school aged children and youth. The program provides a safe alternative after school program in which children in kinship care and community children can be enriched through academic and cultural stimulation. The program is in operation on school days, Monday through Friday 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Some of the existing EYO Activities include but are not limited to: computers, creative writing, and Literacy programs, at various times we take children to cultural and recreational outings.
We urge staff to promote the following in a child’s performance in school: attend school regularly, requesting assistance in problem areas, listen in class, asses the subjects’ difficulty for a child understands, have a positive approach to the subject, identify student-teacher conflict and how you can find a resolution, Identify distractions by others or noises during class or tutoring sessions, Identify good study skills, identify budgeted study time and interfering social activities, take good notes, identify a specific study period after school or in the evening. |
