teresa hTeresa Hawthorne is the Executive Assistant of the Operations Department.  She assists the Vice President of Operations with the day to day activities involving various departments throughout the agency.   In addition, she supervises various staff within the Support Department and the Employee Relations Department.

Teresa brings years of administrative experience to ASCI.  Her professional and interpersonal skills, her ability to multi task, and her ability to think on her feet makes her a valuable asset to the organization. 

Teresa says she values the mission of the agency and is honored to be a part of such a great family of professionals.

Rhonda Wright

Vice President

Operations and Employee Relations

rhonda wRhonda Wright serves as the Vice President of Organizational Operations to the Executive Vice President of Finance and Operations. In this capacity she assists with the day-to-day operations of the department.  In addition, she is accountable for management the daily functions of the Support Departments.

During her tenure with A Second Chance Inc., Rhonda has served in various capacities. Most notably, she was instrumental in assisting in the development of our financial tracking process, relative to family compliance.  Furthermore, Rhonda developed the infrastructure for the organization’s child care program where she served as a child care specialist.

Rhonda is a member of the Executive Leadership Team of A Second Chance Inc.; as such she is called upon to facilitate various departmental matters with the organization.

Previous to joining A Second Chance, Inc., Mrs. Wright was the Chief Executive of Wright’s Day Care Center for over 10 years.

Lisa M. Walker, MSW, LSW

lisa wLisa M. Walker is currently the Senior Vice President of TECD and Quality Improvement at A Second Chance, Inc.  Ms. Walker has held the positions of Senior Vice President of Child and Family Services, Vice President and Sr. Director of Clinical and Permanency Services and during her tenure at A Second Chance, Inc.  She has been a practicing social worker for the last 20 years, and recently licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 2004.  She earned her master’s degree in social work in 2000 from the University of Pittsburgh where she also completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology.  Ms. Walker came to A Second Chance, Inc. as a consultant in the Outpatient Mental Wellness Clinic and a facilitator for the agency’s Community Advisory Board.  Prior to her employment with A Second Chance, Inc. Ms. Walker has served in various positions at Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Office of Children, Youth and Families with her last 7 years as one of the eight Regional Office Directors.  Ms. Walker is the founder/president of Promoting F.A.I.T.H., Inc. a non-profit organization dedicated to providing training resources and service delivery to families, communities and professionals in Southwestern Pennsylvania in the philosophy and tenets of Family Group Decision Making.  Ms. Walker is a trainer for the PA Child Welfare Training program an organization assigned by the state to train new and existing child welfare professionals. She has trained human service professionals locally and nationally on numerous child welfare, leadership and cultural diversity topics.

In 1998, Ms. Walker received the “Distinguished Alumni Award” presented by the University of Pittsburgh, College of General Studies in recognition of outstanding achievement.  Lisa Walker’s specialties are in the areas of clinical services, group facilitation, program development, community-based collaboration and leadership development.


Finally, Ms. Walker is a mother and sibling in her family.  She’s passionate about her family, the children, families and professionals she works with.

Paul Trunzo, MS

paul tPaul Trunzo comes to A Second Chance, Inc. from Carnegie Museum of Natural History. While there, Mr. Trunzo served as Vice President of Finance which included facility, security and administrative issues in addition to the financial oversight of the organization. Mr. Trunzo has over 20 years of experience working with non-profit corporations.

Mr. Trunzo graduated from Robert Morris University with a B.S. in Business Administration majoring in Accounting. He also has a M.S. in Management Information Systems from Robert Morris University.

Brace Lowe, Sr., BSW

Child and Family Services/Organizational Expansion

brace lBrace Lowe Sr. Currently serves as the Senior Executive Vice President ofChild and Family Services and Organizational Expansion for A Second Chance Inc. In this role, he has the responsibility of ensuring permanence, safety, well-being and compliance both internal and external to the organization. He and his staff are also responsible for connecting with the external public around issues germane to the growth and development of the kinship triad.

Mr. Lowe has been employed in the child welfare arena for over 19 years. His prior work experience includes positions as caseworker, supervisor, Director of TECD, Program Master Director for Vision Quest, as well as Youth Counselor for Allegheny County Shuman Detention Center. Mr. Lowe’s wealth of experience and leadership has propelled him into one of the organization’s most charismatic and influential leaders.

Most recently, Mr. Lowe developed an initiative called Camp C.O.P.E.S. (Children Optimizing Personal Experience through Sports) which is designed to give youth in kinship care the opportunity to develop team work, relationships, work ethic and competitive awareness skills. The camp serves as positive distraction for children who face real life challenges every day. Camp C.O.P.E.S. works with the agency Transitional Living program which serves as positive redirection for youth who are seeking the opportunity to further their education, work ethic and overall knowledge of independence.

Presently, Mr. Lowe serves as President and CEO of Upscale Enterprises, which is an organization designed to help children in care and the community. Upscale’s vision for the future is to counsel and provide mentoring services for all student athletes both high-school and college.

As a passionate, compassionate and skillful advocate for children and community improvement, Mr. Lowe continues to share his vision of a brighter future for children and families……through the promotion of leadership development, speaking engagements, conferences, trainings, publications and coalition building.
