EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent industry certification) in computer science, information science or a related field required.
WORK EXPERIENCE Five years of experience working in an MIS/IT department environment. Experience in network systems maintenance/troubleshooting, website development/maintenance, hardware, peripheral and administration of an end-user help desk required.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS None currently. Position may supervise help desk or other MIS staff in the future.
JOB STATUS/OFFICE LOCATION Full-Time, Permanent, Exempt – - Position located in Pittsburgh but requires occasional travel to Philadelphia office. - Position reports to the Director of MIS
QUALIFICATIONS Ability to operate and oversee daily functions of the organization’s network, hardware, software, website, phone systems, cell phones, alarm and other IT/communications systems for two-offices connected via WAN. Develop and effectively present end-user training curriculum. General understanding of databases and working knowledge to assist others in their use. Experience and basic understanding of foster care system/social service organizations a plus. Good verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal and organizational skills needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES: - Efficient operation of agency network. Troubleshoot network issues to final resolution to maintain 99.9% availability. - Maintain/manage/close MIS help desk tickets. - Work with MIS team to assist in developing, maintaining and updating MIS department policies and procedures and
responsibilities/goals, including: desktop consistency, effective operation and troubleshooting of all IT systems; daily network
back-up; network security; coordinating and installation of new software and upgrades; preventative maintenance for
workstation, peripheral, network and server equipment; installation, configuration and maintenance of desktops, networks,
and related hardware and software.
- Assess technology needs of the various departments and recommend/develop/implement technological solutions to
address issues as appropriate.
- Assist in managing multiple vendors for purchasing equipment, services and supplies. - Manage VPN/WAN, including Pittsburgh and Philadelphia office connectivity. - Manage contracts for software license compliance and various maintenance agreements. - Assist and/or manage MIS projects. - Identify staff/client training needs and develop/update and present on-going end-user trainings and reference materials to
assist staff, clients and occasionally the community with various computer-related skill development.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by MIS Director.
SKILLS REQUIRED: - Knowledge of Windows client and server operating systems installation, configuration, security and administration, including
all aspects of Active Directory and creating and maintaining Group Policies and scripts.
- Programming knowledge/experience of Cisco Routers/Switches. - Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, BlackBerry Enterprise Server/client support, MS-Office products, Internet
Explorer, Mobile devices (Blackberry/iPhone/Android and related tablets).
- Knowledge of Symantec Antivirus/Symantec Backup Exec/Symantec Ghost/Symantec Endpoint. - Understanding the fundamentals of printer installation, reset passwords, maintain Windows 7 desktops, and some database
and other application support.
- Excellent customer-service skills and ability to successfully interact with every level of management and staff. - Must be both able to effectively multi-task and can work both independently and as a team.
Helpful Additional Skills: - Basic knowledge of phone and voice mail systems - Knowledge of Sharepoint, Joomla, ArcMail Mail Defender U110. - Adobe Acrobat/Photoshop/Flash/Illustrator/GoLive/Dreamweaver CS4/CS5. - Apple OS Tiger, Leopard, and Snow Leopard. - SQL Server experience - Familiar with: Java/JScrip/Html/MySQL/PHP/Perl/CSS/JQuery/HTML5/Powershell. - Galaxy Security Systems. - Barracuda web/spam filter appliances. - Ubuntu Desktop/Server. - FOG Desktop imagining software.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: - Must be available to participate in MIS on-call for after-hour emergency needs. - Current Act 33 and police clearances . - Ability to work flexible schedule and/or on weekends, as needed. - Extended sitting is possible, able to handle and lift computers, servers and monitors. - The ability to deal with stress associated with fast-paced work environment.
